My Wire Hanger Zombie

Cheshire cat zombie, now that is a challenge.  I do not know what I am doing!  I shaped a wire hanger into the semblance of a four legged thingy.  Then I took apart a wooden hanger that was padded and wrapped the thingy like a mummy.
I cut out a pattern (which was wrong the first two time).  Like a taxidermist I stuffed, stretched and sewed until it looks pretty good, then sewed on some ears.
I popped in some green eyes and made some eyelids with polymer clay as well as some fangs.
The first coat of paint is on and drying.  Next I will detail the big smile cause right now it looks like it has someones dentures in it's mouth.  This cat is giving me the stink eye!
And Mr C is on the move!

Living the Alaskan Lifestyle

My beautiful daughter in the red boots, is living in Alaska until October.  She has been gone almost 3 weeks now and I miss her so much.  She is managing a Hostel for the summer.

A Hostel is sleeping accommodations for travelers and backpackers.  You basically rent a bunk bed in a dormitory for $8.00 a night.  You can rent towels, use the kitchen and hang out in the common area for a movie or socializing.

This particular Hostel is on a working farm and guests can work a few hours to pay off their bunk.  It is hard work too.  The above photo left to right: owner, backpacker, owner, granddaughter of owner, my daughter, backpacker.

When Fabric Makes Me Smile

As I was headed home from the airport I spotted a fabric store having a 40% off sale.  I had never been to this place called Boca Bargoons.
This is the cutest fabric!  I love how whimsical it is!  I am making an apron for my swap partner, an apron for me and of course Dilly gets a apron too!

Pre Empty Nest

My youngest daughter is leaving for Alaska tomorrow.  She will be living and working on a farm for 6 weeks.  The farm's mission is "To encourage greater awareness of nature". I will be the first to admit that her father and I spoiled her rotten!  This is a wonderful opportunity for her to experience sustainable living.  I know it will be life changing for her.

There are so many college programs available for people to experience and apply greener living.

and a wonderful program to live abroad for a semester.

When she is finished in Alaska she will complete her AS degree and will be transferring to Georgia State.
She is all grown up, the last of my four babies.

Dear Swap Partner

I look forward to sharing time with you. This is an odd swap in that I will be sending you my favorite things. I think I am still going to look for a common interest so that you enjoy my offerings.  I have made many lasting friends through Shawnee's swaps.

My day begins at 7:30 am with a cup of coffee on the back porch. While my two chihuahuas Dilly and Schmoo do their morning business I check my emails and Facebook pages then enjoy morning puppy snuggles.  I always give myself around 20 minutes of nothingness for deep thinking.  It centers me.

Yesterday I made sure to started following all the gals for this swap with the exclusion of two that I can't seem to figure out how to link up to.  I am going to try to post something every morning as if we were all sharing the morning together.
